Dr Philippe Cotten: A career of expertise In Dentistry

From his first 21 m2 clinic in Paris, where he practised without an assistant, to developing and creating his own specialist practice in Spain from scratch, Dr Cotten has continually trained himself to achieve continuous growth, while reducing his working hours.

Thanks to faster, less invasive treatments, with fewer complications to manage, and to offer solutions to patients who are sometimes left by the wayside when they receive the message: "There's nothing more we can do for you".

From general practitioner to specialist, with more than 35 years of practice, 7 dental clinics created and developed on 3 different continents, in 4 countries, Dr. Philippe Cotten has never stopped training in private training, and in University training, by passing several diplomas:

For more than 15 years where he was a teaching instructor in University Diplomas, he continued to put his decades of experience at the service of his colleagues, whether in implantology, periodontics or orthodontics, to help them manage their treatments in office, with less invasive, less time-consuming solutions, to have a better balance of professional and personal life.

He has published and presented his results in Europe, the Middle East, Central America and South America. He is writing a book “Odontogeriatria” with Professor Jimmy Matiz Cuervo from the University of Public Dentistry of Bogota (Colombia), and Dr. Joao Carlos Reis from Brazil.

P2 Expertise Philippe 2

For Dr. Philippe Cotten, dental surgeons have proven that they have the necessary skills to practice one of the most demanding specialties in terms of manual skill.

They work in an extremely small space, measuring 3 to 4 cm in height, width and depth. Working on a living being, they must deal with constantly moving elements such as the tongue and cheeks, and with patients who are likely to move at any time. This requires exceptional mastery, great dexterity and extraordinary skills.

Dr. Cotten emphasizes that all those who have trained in this profession must be proud of their career and their specialty.

He says:

There are no limits to the development of skills in the various specialities of dentistry. In my opinion, there are no dentists with two left hands, as some would have us believe. Everyone has the potential to train, learn and improve in their profession, to live better and with less stress, both professionally and personally.

Personal and professional development can be hindered by a lack of self-confidence or a lack of adequate support. “Everyone knows or has known this, including me. I learned to have confidence in myself when I had doubts. I have raised my level of competence through training, including personal development, to better serve my patients and improve the quality of life for myself, as well as that of my family and loved ones." Philippe Cotten

Dr. Cotten shares his best keys to obtaining answers to specific treatments and adopting an excellent state of mind. He helps to overcome certain limiting beliefs that hinder professional and personal development.

“Everything can be learned. Implementation also requires personal and professional involvement, and the speed of integration of knowledge and practice does not depend only on each individual, but also and above all on the teaching received and the sharing of knowledge."
